We were introduced to Lewes, DE by our friends Jim and Mike. We immediately fell in love with the town (close to the ocean, beautiful homes, slower pace, fantastic people). We decided that this would be a great place to “retire”….in 2001; we bought a “fix-r-upper” 1906 Victorian home. The home had been split into 2 separate apartments (lots of wood paneling and acoustic ceiling tiles). From 2001-2007 we rented it out (not the greatest experience….a drug pusher, 12 roofing guys, a freeloader, domestic violence, etc.). However, we did have a few good tenants.
