Kitchen Backsplash

We're back! Tom installed the kitchen backsplash between trips to Zurich and Thanksgiving in NY.

Staircase

Finally - the stair is done!!!!!...actually, the oak handrails and newel posts still need to be stained & sealed, the balusters need to be painted and the risers and treds given their (at least) 3 coates of finishing....that's all.

Stripping Doors

Richard is in the process of stripping all the doors on the 2nd floor...only to be primed and painted again. Will anyone realize how much elbow grease went into these doors???

Building Permit

We finally passed the building inspection and were able to close out our building permit. Tom applies the "Inspected" sticker to the inside of the electrical box (as required by law and regulation)....and Tom always does things "by the book"!

Staircase

Sorry Everyone...time just got away. Here are some photos of the staircase...original framing, installation of the old chestnut wood for the treads and risers, antique newel post originally from Pittsburgh...we bought it online from an antique store in Maine, balusters being primed, railings getting sanded. Whew! all of this just to get from one floor to another!!!

Front Door

The front door is completed except for painting....before and after photos for your enjoyment!

Stairtower

We kept the door in the stairwell so that we could bring in construction materials without going through the house. Although we still have painting, floor finishing, 2bathrooms to install, we're done with major construction on the 2nd and 3rd floors. So, time for replacing the door with a window. Now comes painting and installing the outside sheathing/trim and insulation, drywall, trim and painting on the inside. Once done, this completes the last installation of the windows and doors!!!!

Visitors

Our close friends from Phoenixville the Evans (Jan and Bill) and the Carnevales (Lauren, Tom, James and William) have recently been down for visits. While Jan and Bill visited, we roped them into protesting the development of local farm land (you never know what you'll be roped into when you visit us!!!). During the Carnevale visit, the boys went swimming in the pool & we toured Lewes including several local museums.

3rd Floor Complete!!!

Finally, the 3rd floor is done. Still working on the 2nd floor.
